A MARY HEART – A Prayer, Aug. 21

LORD, change my heart.

Replace my desire to hustle with a heart that desires holiness.

Replace my wish to be served with a heart that is eager to serve others.

Replace my anxiety-prone spirit with a spirit of trust and complete peace in your protection.

Replace my desire to perfect my surroundings with a stronger desire to know You, the Perfect One.

Replace my desire to do earthly things “just right” with the desire to be right with you.

Replace my desire for worldly things with a heart set on heaven.

Replace my feelings of incompetency with total trust that our competence comes from You, because You made us competent as ministers of a new covenant. — 2 Cor. 3:5-6a (NIV)

Replace my trust in my own feelings with trust in Your words — words like:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  — Joshua 1:9

Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.  — Exodus 4:11-12

We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.  — Ephesians 2:10

Lord, remind me that all the longings and aches of my heart are hunger pangs for you.

Remind me that when you seem far off, I’m the one who moved.

Remind me when I fail to make time for you that I love you.  We make time for the people we love.  Remind me that you always have time for me.

Remind me continually of your incredible blessings – of people and provision, of beauty and breath, of hope and Heaven.

Remind me that You alone are the source of life, love, joy, and peace, and that going elsewhere for these is striving after wind.

Remind me that I am a sinner.  Remind me that you love me anyway.  Remind me that Your grace overflows to me daily.

Remind me of Jesus.  Remind me that Jesus loves me he who died, Heaven’s gate to open wide.  Remind me that He’s now exalted in Heaven, and that there’s a place for me in Heaven, too, if I’ll become a humble, obedient servant like Him.

Remind me that my life is short.  Remind me that everything my heart chases after is mist — except you.  Remind me that you are eternal, everlasting, the source of light and hope and all things good.

Lord, change my heart.  Bethany Noles @ amaryheart.net
